i will be 16 soon and im very healthy. i need the money for college, im going to Italy for medical school.

Hi Samii,

You are way too young, legally, to become a surrogate mother.

You need to be at least 21 years old to legally enter into the contract to be able to become a surrogate mother. You also MUST have given birth to at least one child before. There is no exception to these rules.

Also, becoming a surrogate mother “for the money” is not acceptable. While money is a huge factor in most women’s decision to become a surrogate mother (and frankly, it should be) someone who does not go into it for the joy it will bring another family is setting herself up for a very difficult time. The money is not definite, but the emotional rollercoaster is.

No. You cannot be a surrogate at age 17. It is not legal. Period. I was unclear if you meant that you would like to give your baby to your cousin. If that is the case, it is a simple adoption, not a surrogacy.

If you are under 21, you need to wait to become a surrogate mother. Rest assured, surrogate mothers will still be needed in a few years. Take this time to research surrogacy thoroughly and a few months before you turn 21, start the matching process.
